Jan Miodek (born June 7, 1946, in Tarnowskie Góry, Silesian Voivodeship), Professor of Wroclaw University, is a Polish linguist^[1] in the normative tradition.

With numerous television appearances (Ojczyzna polszczyzna) and newspaper articles, he is a popular media figure. Many laypeople consider him to be "the authority on the Polish language". His many columns, essentially dealing with minor problems, were published and republished in many books.

He is one of the members of the Polish Language Council.
